Press release : Don't give up on quitting - To The Letters Editor from Duncan Bannatyne OBE
Sir
DON’T GIVE UP ON QUITTING
No Smoking Day: Wednesday 10 March 2010
Quitting smoking isn’t always easy. Most of the nine million
If you’ve tried and failed a few times, it’s easy to give up hope. But you’ll find few ex-smokers that quit the habit on their first attempt. So pick yourself up, dust yourself down and believe that this time you really can do it!
So how can you make sure this quit attempt is your last? Here are a few tips:
- Quit with others. Surveys show that over two million smokers are ready to stub it out for good on No Smoking Day, Wednesday 10 March 2010.
- Stay on track with online support. You can join the forum to share your thoughts with other quitters, stay motivated with free email and Facebook support, and win fantastic prizes.
- Get free local help. Find your nearest free NHS stop smoking service; you’re up to four times more likely to succeed with their help. Call the NHS Stop Smoking Helpline on 0800 169 0169 to find out more.
- Stop smoking, start saving. A 20-a-day smoker spends over £2,000 each year - money that’s literally going up in smoke. Think about what you and your family could do with that money – and start saving for it!

Yours sincerely
